Online Safety Training for School Staff

This course provides an overview of how children use the internet and technology.

Why do you need Online Safety Training?

Schools, colleges, and even nurseries now are increasingly on the front line when it comes to online safety and the protection of children and the professionals who work with them.  Extensive research by the nationally respected South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL), the PSHE Association and OFSTED highlights that staff training and development is one of the weakest aspects of school online safety in both its quality and frequency.

Care providers in breakfast and after school clubs, and activity or youth group leaders will have similar exposure to the problems children experience online as well as the risks to their own professional reputations online making this training just as relevant to them.

Much of the content is also vital learning for any adult who has children, grandchildren or regular contact with other young people who are important to them in their own personal lives.  Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and having a good understanding of what can go wrong online and how problems might present themselves empowers everyone to spot them and act appropriately.

Who is this training for?

  • Teaching staff
  • Non-teaching staff
  • Those with regular contact with children
